Amtrak HHPc test train No. 888 heading to Sunnyside Yard for the day. Rumor going around that it should be in revenue service within a few days. Glad to see these motors are being utilize once again. The unit no longer has pantographs or traction motors.

Amtrak Siemens ALC-42 chargers testing between Philly and Newark Penn Station. Test train ran from Philly to Newark Penn Station. Due to NJ Transit MM08 breaking down, Chargers came back on the local track after their test was completed. February 21-22 , 2024

While out in NYC for the Holiday MTA Vintage Subway, decided to film the R211 MTA's newest subway cars. These went into service on June 29. 2023. I also wanted to test out the newest Android operating software 14 upgrade on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. New camera features which gives me full manual control when doing videos.

Amtrak Crescent Train No. 20 towing an old HHP-8 which was converted to a cab car. No official word what this unit will be used for yet. Keep an eye for any future tests. If you look closely 0:18, you could see the old Acela logo markings by the door of the locomotive.

Still not as fast as the Shinkansen's.
shinkansens were built on dedicated right of way in the 1960s, for the purpose of high speed trains. The acela was built on a legacy line that is over a century old, and doing 165 on a legacy line is INSANE. In the UK, their highspeed mainlines are on legacy lines and can only get up to 125mph. My point is stop bitching about the speed, the acela is a great service with a bright future ahead, and 165mph is a great achievement with as little funding as amtrak gets.

Not yet! These are still in testing mode. Hopefully, by the end of the year or so.

What's the point of testing on the corridor, is this locomotive really going to see use on the electrified NEC? For that matter, why would there be any question is to whether this locomotive could run on the NEC?
I believe it’s because the NEC is actually owned by Amtrak, so it’s a lot easier to control times for testing and where most of their equipment is. They did tests with the Midwest and AmCal Venture Cars attached to Northeast Regional sets 1-2 years ago before those went to their according routes. Hell even the Chargers for the Pacific Surfliner was tested on the NEC before being sent to California. Think of this as car street testing but for trains. So they’ve passed safety, they’ve passed most paperwork but now all they need is tests in the real environment, and the NEC is a great place for doing that
Amtrak owns the rails, it is grade separated for the most part (south of New Haven, and therefore can the locomotives can be run at much higher top speeds than elsewhere.

Remember this is 165MPH (265.54 km/h). This trains, with better rails, can go up to 220 MPH!! (354.06 km/h). That's why they may change the rails or something like that, this will be FAST1
